Living in Ensanche de Vallecas, a new area with its own identity

Today we are telling you more about what might be called the ‘youngest area’ in the capital: What is it like to live in Ensanche de Vallecas? Just minutes from Madrid, it is one of the fastest-growing areas in recent years. We invite you to discover it with us!

New-build homes in Ensanche de Vallecas: first contact

One of the advantages of living in Ensanche de Vallecas is that there is no doubt that it has all the ingredients to be the perfect location to find a unique space where quality of life is a priority. Shops, restaurants, schools, doctors’ surgeries, supermarkets, and endless amenities for day-to-day life which make the daily routine easier and more convenient, and with the centre of Madrid just a few minutes away.

Leisure and free time

If you want to spend the afternoon shopping in the area, then the La Gavia Shopping Centre is the perfect choice with a total surface area of 207,000 square metres featuring 170 establishments and 5,000 free parking spaces, making it the largest shopping centre in the city of Madrid. Restaurants, shops, cinemas, leisure activities… all in one place!

Culture also has its place in Ensanche de Vallecas, boasting two of the capital city’s most important and renowned establishments:

  • The Paco Rabal Cultural Centre, where theatre, cinema, art, music, and dance all converge every day at this multidisciplinary space offering a highly-varied cultural programme, as well as workshops for the whole family.

  • The Pilar Miró Cultural Centre, a theatre open to professional companies that wish to provide artistic and technical residencies in the disciplines of theatre, music, and dance. A benchmark of the more alternative cultural offerings.

Both of them belong to the Network of Theatres of the Region of Madrid and host some of its festivals such as Teatralia, Madrid en Danza, Arte Sacro, and Suma Flamenca.

Open spaces and sports facilities

In the surrounding areas you will find numerous parks where you can practise outdoor sports or take a walk with the family. A good example of this is Navamures, known for its skate park, as well as the Jose Gutiérrez Maroto Park, with a spectacular central fountain and where numerous recreational activities for the whole family are organized.

We can also mention the Miguel Guillén Prim Madrid Municipal Sports Centre, with indoor facilities that allow you to practice numerous activities.

Communications and transport

Taking as a reference point the development at Isla de Mouro, our new-build homes in Ensanche de Vallecas have various transport options, both within the area and beyond.

Public transport

The La Gavia and Congosto metro stations are nearby, both of which are on Line 1, with direct trains to Gran Via in central Madrid, or the commuter stations at Vallecas, Atocha, and Chamartín. In addition, it ‘crosses’ the capital, reaching as far as the Hortaleza district.

With regard to bus routes in Ensanche de Vallecas, there are four routes that connect the area with Vallecas and its suburbs, one of which is a night bus.

To get around by private car, there are access roads from the Valencia road, the M40, M45 and M50 ring roads, and the R3 and R5 radial routes.
